Maple Husky & Cattle Dog Mix Madras, OR

Maple came into our care because she did not get along with another female dog in her home. She just turned one year old and currently weighs almost 50 pounds. We were told she is a husky/cattle dog mix. The good: Maple loves water, playing ball, and hiking. Maple enjoys the car. She is house and crate-trained. Once she knows you, Maple is happy, active, and affectionate. The difficult: Maple prefers to be an only dog. She has met a few male dogs at the shelter that she liked at first and then abruptly changed her mind. She would NOT be a dog park dog. As a pup, she had a broken leg. It has healed but she may have late life arthritis in that rear leg. She is frightened of loud noises and takes a good amount of time to warm up to new people. Kind words and yummy treats definitely help her feel safe. She requires an owner that is willing to learn more about her specific needs and not put her in the wrong situations. Rural living may suit her better than a city life and reduce the proximity of other dogs in her surroundings. Older kids in her life 12+ would be fine.
Her adoption fee of $175.00 includes her spay, current vaccines, microchip, vet visit, offer of 30 days of pet health insurance and engraved ID tag.
