Meet Manny

Mr. Manny originally came to us in late 2016. He was a very shy guy at just over a year old. Because of his shyness he spend a lot of time at the shelter and finally got adopted almost a year later in late October 2017. He stayed in that home until 3/26/18 at which time he was returned to us. The people who had adopted him drugged him very heavily thinking that would help with how nervous it was - it did not do so but made matters worse.

From March 26, 2018 Manny was at the shelter until he got adopted on July 6, 2019 (well over a year). The person who adopted him did amazing with him and things went along fairly well for a while. Recently Manny decided at random times he did not like the other dog in the house and on three different occasions went after the other dog requiring stitches and medical care. His adopter couldn't do it any longer and returned him to us, in tears, on 3/24/22.

It breaks our heart to see this dog who has lost his spirit 100%. He just trys to hide in a corner and be invisible. He eats occasionally and other than that not much reaction out of him.

The biggest question - what does Manny need - the list is long but here are the biggies: 1. Single woman owner (he is terrified of men); 2. Be the only animal in the home (no other dogs or cats). 3. Have the ability to be outside more than inside as housebreaking is not his strong suit. 4. A fenced in yard so that he can spend time outside - NOT ON A CHAIN - but with a fence to contain him so he doesn't run off (which he will). 5. Someone that understands he will probably never be that loving cuddly, curl up in bed with you, type of dog but will love him in spite of that lack of affection. 6. Someone that can prove to him all humans are not inhumane. His prior home had a good start on it so a loving caring hand will be required.

When Manny was with us the first time he spent several months out in foster and his foster mom made great progress with him and he learned to trust her and actually enjoy having her pet him. Manny is now 7 years old and has spent more time in a shelter during his lifetime than he has in a home. We hope and PRAY there is someone out there who would open their home and heart to Manny. No dog deserves to spend the majority of his life in a shelter - EVER.

Manny is probably a Lab/Great Dane mix and weighs in at 75 lbs. If you have what it takes to love Manny, even with all of his needs, please go to our website at www.patriotsforpets.com and submit an application.
