Introducing Mango! This big ole guy is around six years old and weighs around 70 pounds, and he is just about as sweet as he could be.

Mango is house trained and only had one accident… but it’s because he drank a ton of water at the dog park, and his foster mom didn’t give him an extra potty break before going inside! He otherwise has not had any accidents. He also doesn’t seem to mind the crate, especially when there is a piece of cheese involved. He’s now working on going into his crate without an incentive, but he’ll get there soon. He has already learned how to sit, lay down, and shake! What a good boy.

Mango lives in a home with two smaller dogs, and he’s done well with them. He does not do well with chickens or other farm animals. Mango does fine at the dog park unless there are other big dogs, though he sometimes does well after an introduction. Overall, he prefers to be slowly introduced to his new friends.

As far as people go, Mango is a huge fan and has so much love to give. He’s a tad shy, but generally is super happy to meet new friends. He also has the cutest head tilt when he hears something new!

Because he’s so mild-mannered, Mango is happy with just a few short walks or one long one to get his energy out. Once back, he’s happy to just spend his day lounging on the couch, snuggling with his people! According to his foster mom, Mango is just about perfect, even though he has a bit of an old man snore when he sleeps.

If you’d like to be considered to adopt, the first step in the process is to submit an application through our website: http://athenscaninerescue.com/adoption-procedures/. Our adoption fee is $250 per dog over the age of 6 months and $300 per dog 6 months or younger. We accept payment by Venmo, PayPal, or card.

This includes: basic vet care (i.e. basic vaccinations, including boosters completed after adoption, spay/neuter, heartworm/flea preventatives, and treatment for any health needs while in our care), a microchip, a week’s worth of food for the trial-period, and a harness lead.

We typically adopt to homes within 30 minutes of Athens, GA, as we require a basic home check to ensure all dogs are placed in a safe environment. If you are further away than that and are interested in one of our pups, please still fill out an application and we can discuss your options. WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING OUT OF STATE APPLICATIONS.
