Meet Mandi- ILLINOIS
Mandi has been in our foster care program for over a year and a half now. She has been successfully treated for heartworm disease and has survived two major surgeries but her mast cell cancer came back in her leg. She is doing well in the adoptive home of her daughter and hopefully we can keep her comfortable for the rest of her life.
Senior dogs are hard to find homes for so we have a ChipIn started to help our Geezers & Grannies.
Mandilyn aka Mandi is a beautiful Black and White American Field Bred English Pointer that gave birth to 3 surviving mixed breed puppies--Harmonica, Tamborine and Clarinette on November 22nd, 2009. UPDATE 9-4-10 GOOD NEWS!! Mandi's latest heartworm test shows she is negative!! She is doing great in her new foster home (with adopted daughter Perrie) and recently we had an opportunity to see how her hunting skills are. After a few sessions on some pheasant, Miss Mandi showed us all that this little lady has lots of potential to be a first class hunting buddy. Check out her you Tube video.
Mandi also runs at close range off leash. I think I can see some Hunt tests in her future!
UPDATE 6-21-10 Mandi is doing AMAZING!! She sailed through her heartworm treatment and is now ready for adoption. She is such a sweet, gentle dog. Her foster family just adores her. She would be a wonderful addition to any family.
UPDATE 3-18-10 We are all in love with Mandi. She has that perfect Pointer joy and zest for life! She is just precious. She is now happy and safe in foster care in a Chicago suburb getting ready for heartworm treatment the week of March 25th. She is a very strong gal and should recover quickly. Watch her blog for further details.

Mandilyn aka Mandi is a beautiful Black and White American Field Bred English Pointer that is expecting a mixed breed puppy litter in December. Her health is good so we are hopeful for happy healthy Holiday puppeezz. Watch her blog for further details.
Due to the fact that many of our dogs have come from shelters or abuse or neglect situations, and unless we have tested these dogs on upland birds and feel they are confident and ready to work as a hunter with families where they will be trained with kindness and patience, we will only adopt to pet homes.
All adoptions include vaccinations, deworming, microchips, spaying or neutering, collar, leash and an information adoption packet. All IBR dogs are crate trained, housebroken, socialized with other dogs and loved on by their human foster parents. Adoption fees are used to cover vetting expenses and special need dogs' vetting care. We also require non-smoking homes with fenced in yards- traditional or invisible.
If you are interested in adopting this pet through our rescue organization, please fill out an online adoption application.
Several Ways You Can Save A Life
Shop for custom calendars, mugs and T-shirts at our Café Press fundraising website and choose merchandise featuring Pointers, Setters, Hunting Dogs or Friendly Mutts. All of our calendar stars are rescued dogs that would have been euthanized in shelters across the Mid-West had IBR not stepped in to save them. Your support does make a difference!!
Check out our new Ebay Store with fundraising shirts featuring several birddog breeds like Pointers, Setters, GSP's, Vizslas, and Labradors . All purchases will help off set our high vetting expenses and may also help pay for food for some of our long term senior and special needs foster dogs in rescue. Please click on the Ebay icon for more info.

Make a donation or sponsor a homeless dog. Illinois Birddog Rescue has always prided itself in not turning away any sick and injured dogs; animals that most shelters would have euthanized. We have saved many dogs with heartworm, tick borne illnesses, broken legs, missing legs, blind dogs, a new deaf puppy, dogs suffering from Parvo and especially senior dogs that may need expensive health care to help them get ready for adoption. In February of 2006, in one weekend, we brought in 20+ dogs from the Boat Mountain Tragedy, and that depleted our emergency funds. Please help us continue to help those birddogs that have suffered terrible abuse and suffering by making an online donation here:
Your donation will not go unnoticed. In addition to helping save lives, when you donate your name will be added to the Illinois Birddog Rescue Donations and Rescue Sponsor List.
Visit the IBR Home Page and browse our new online store to find out the many ways you can shop for the dog lovers in your life while helping homeless birddogs.
