Meet Mama Rosey

Mama Rosey and her boy, Ninja Pup, made their way to STAF after being abandoned by their owner at a county pound that has a very high euthanasia rate. Sadly both of these adorable pups were on the “list” and STAF is so thankful to be able to step in and rescue both of them. Mama is around 3 ½ years old and Ninja Pup is right around 2 years old. Both are between 40-45 lbs.

Both of these guys are short-legged (Ninja Pup has adorable “duck” feet) and appear to be Basset Hounds mixed with either Pointer (Ninja has the Pointer ticking/flecks) or Labrador (Both Mama and Ninja have the eyes). So we’re not sure if they’re “Bassadors” or “Bassointers”:)

Both Mama and Ninja have very calm dispositions and are incredibly cuddly and loving with every volunteer that they meet. It doesn’t take much for them to settle in and take a nap on the first lap they encounter. They have a sweet and gentle nature about them and one look into either of their eyes will be sure to melt your heart.

Here is some great feedback as well as photos and video from a volunteer after having both Mama and Ninja at her house for the weekend:
“I really enjoyed hosting Mama Rosey and Ninja Pup over the weekend. They were perfect house guests.
These are two of the most laid-back, gentle, easygoing dogs I’ve ever met. I think they will transition into a new home seamlessly.

They both enjoyed romping in the grass before the storm, and they especially enjoyed romping in the snow! They have short bursts of energy outside, but generally they are very relaxed dogs. They rarely bark, they aren’t big lickers, and they are so well-behaved. They both adore being petted, but are content to just lounge on their beds for hours.

Neither of them bothered anything in the house. My steep stairs were a little bit challenging for these short dogs, but they did fine.

They both love to take walks, do well on leash and love to play with their STAF canine buddies. We think that both Mama and Ninja are pretty darn special and we are on a mission to make sure that the next time around that they find the loving home that they deserved from the very beginning.

Mama Rosey’s estimated birth date is April 2015
Mama Rosey will need: A patient home allowing her time to adjust and a home that provides her with plenty of walks for her daily exercise
Mama Rosey will love: A home with a fenced back yard and a home to provide her with positive based training.

Please see our homepage for visiting hours and adoption details.

All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.

Visit our website www.staf.org to download our application.

We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.

You must be 21 years or older to adopt a dog from STAF

We require a physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog's behavior and exercise needs.

Invisible fences - Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training--we cannot adopt to homes with invisible fences unless otherwise noted in a dog's online profile.

We do request vet and personal references.

At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 75 miles of Cincinnati.

Can’t adopt but want to help? You can make a difference! Our shelter is run entirely on volunteer-power and generous donations from animal-lovers like you. 100% of your contribution goes directly to caring for our 500+ furry residents. Thank you for your support.
