Oh Mama!! What a survivor this sweet gal is. Mama was trapped last August in the Casa Grande desert. Volunteers had spotted her and began to feed her throughout the hot summer. She was too terrified to trust human contact and as the months passed, it was apparent a change in plans was needed to bring Mama to safety. It took some time but eventually Mama was humanely trapped. It has been an incredibly slow process but also so rewarding and heartwarming to see Mama find joy in life. Initially Mama would stare from afar and would not allow anyone near her. The first few nights we had her, she would not come inside. We made a cozy bed outside, each day hoping she would come in. As the weeks passed and her safe, quiet routine continued, Mama began to wag her tale and slowly approach for pets. Today Mama goes in and out of the house, she plays with the other dogs in our care and is starting to approach to give kisses....Mama loves to give kisses! Mama has the kindest face, her soulful eyes will melt you. We think Mama will do best in a very low key, routine oriented household. Mama is still decompressing from her prior life of survival. She is not a dog that will jump in the car and explore adventures, rather she would thrive following her person around the house, and having access to a back yard that she can sun bath.
