Meet Malibu

People have fallen in love with this girl's puppies, and now it is time for someone to fall in love with her! Say hello to Malibu!

Sometimes it takes one look and you just know that someone is as sweet as can be! Miss Malibu has that look and she is a huge lovebug! She is not a dog that you want to miss out on. Don't just take my word for it though. Below is what her foster says about her!

"Malibu absolutely loves people. She’s done well meeting them and has done amazing around kids! Once she explores her environment she loves to just sleep and lay down on the floor. Since she was so skinny when she came here she still has an instinct to go and find herself food so she likes to counter surf in the kitchen. She listens well when we tell her to stop or tell her no! She doesn’t jump on us when we are eating or attempts to take the food. We keep the dog food in a closet so she doesn’t get into it. Malibu has done well with our dogs but it took a lot of time for her to trust them. Now she is pretty much indifferent around them but has been curious enough to smell and join in when they’re playing! She’s the biggest sweetheart and just wants to be loved on, she will always paw at us for more pets! Malibu has had such a hard life and has been such an amazing mother to her puppies. She is now ready to just be a dog in a home that is loving and patient."

Malibu got the short end of the stick in her first home. She is a puppy herself still at only about 13 months old and she already had 6 puppies. The really sucky part is, not only did her owners let her get pregnant at such a young age but they also decided that she was no longer worth their time. She was found in a box outside a liquor store when animal control picked her up, along with her 6 puppies. The whole family was brought to the shelter, where they served stray hold. Sure enough, no one came to reclaim them. The shelter is no place for newborn puppies and they needed her and her pups out quickly. Thankfully, we had a foster family step up for the family and were able to welcome them to our fluffy butt family! ♥

Malibu is a 13-month-old female Great Pyrenees mix. She is on the more petite side for a Great Pyrenees, and will probably top out somewhere in the 70lb range. She has the most soulful eyes, and a lovely cream and gray coat color! Her personality is on the calmer and laid-back side.

??To Malibu's Future Family??
-----------------------------------------

? Malibu has gone on a few walks and seems to enjoy them. She is also well behaved on the leash. She does like going on car rides, so if you have been looking for a road trip buddy...I think you found her ;) She has been to a few public outings and she has done well. She is initially shy when meeting people. She probably didn't have very much socialization growing up. However, once she gets to know you she is a big ole lovebug! This girl also respects that not everyone wants hugs and doesn't jump on people.

? Malibu grew up a little too fast. She had to since she was left to fend for herself and ensure that her puppies were well taken care of. So far, she has not shown to be a big chewer in her foster home. She is uninterested in playing fetch, and we are unsure if she is a water dog or not. As far as toys go, she does seem to love chewing on the bone toys. She doesn't seem to have any issues with resource guarding. She did come to us underweight and nursing 6 puppies, so she can be protective over her food towards the other dogs. It is recommended that feeding time be monitored or she is fed separately from the other dogs.

?Malibu has great house manners. She is already potty trained and sleeps in her doggie bed at night. Malibu will go into her kennel with a treat. However, her fosters leave the kennel open and she has access to about half the house when no one is home.

?Malibu has a wonderful personality. She would fit into just about any household. As long as her owner can exercise her properly, we believe she would do fine in an apartment setting. She has not shown to be a big barker in her foster home. She will bark if there is cause too, though.

?Malibu is being fostered around other dogs and kids. She does well with both. Malibu is indifferent to the other dogs once she gets to know them. Once she really settles into her new home, she may become more playful with them. With that said, it can take a bit for her to warm up to the other dogs. One reason is probably still her maternal instincts kicking in and her wanting to protect her puppies from the other dogs. Once her hormones settle down, we expect her to be okay with other dogs. If her new family has another dog currently, they should be dog savvy as it may take her some time to feel comfortable around the other dog. Along with that, they should also be more laid back. Not super energetic and always in her face.
Malibu has been around kids as young as 4 and does great! She is a total snuggle bug and loves them. With any dog, though, they need to be respectful of her space still.

?? Adopting Malibu ??

Malibu has been an amazing mom to her pups, especially with her still being a pup herself. Now that they are about to go home, it is time to find her forever family as well. One that is patient, and ready to help this girl blossom! She missed out on a lot of her puppyhood, so as she settles into her new home she may become more playful. While she is pretty chill right now, her new family should be prepared for the possibility of her being more active down the road. Malibu is the kind of dog that is sure to steal your heart! This girl just wants to love and be loved. Her ideal family would be home most of the day and would be one where she can be the only dog. As we mentioned above, though, we expect once her hormones die down she won't be as on guard as she is when initially meeting other dogs. If her adopter is dog savvy and they are willing to give it some time, we feel that she would do fine being placed with another calmer dog.

Has Malibu stolen your heart as she has ours? If so, be sure to read on to find out how you can make her yours!

Malibu is being fostered in Moore, OK. Her new family needs to be able to pick her up(even if they are out of state). No commercial transports and no shipping. Just a fun road trip with her and her new family! ?

Her adoption fee is $225. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. She will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
