Malachi's Story

Why Choose Me?

Update: Malachi was already in an interaction pen when I joined him. I was happy to see that his eye looked better, and he also seemed to be feeling better because he wanted to play fetch! He found a ball and took it to the blanket, so I threw it for him. To my surprise, Malachi hopped up and ran to retrieve it. He brought the ball back to the blanket, and we played several more rounds. When we finished playing, he'd sit and lie down for treats and soak up all the pets and scratches I could give him. Malachi is a sweet, fun buddy!
* * *
Malachi and Meme were surrendered together. They're in separate kennels, so when I took Malachi out, I put Meme in the interaction pen next to us so they could visit. They trotted along the fence together and liked being near one another. Malachi seemed to be a little under the weather and didn't open one of his eyes all the way. An officer said Malachi would be visiting the vet soon to check it out. Even though he wasn't feeling 100%, he was still a sweet boy who would come to me for pets and scratches. He's well-behaved and surprisingly easy on a leash for an 88-pound dog. His former owner said Malachi and Meme lived indoors, are house trained, and love kids of all ages. They've been around other dogs and cats but only wanted to sniff them. Both are big, sweet dogs who are easy to be with.
You can read more about this dog and check out additional photos here: https://www.accgov.com/9482/Dogs

The adoption fees, shelter schedule, a description of the rescue and adoption process, and a list of included vetting can be found at https://athenspets.net/adoption-rescue-process.

This dog is available for adoption through Athens-Clarke County Animal Services, located at 125 Buddy Christian Way, Athens, GA.
