Magpie Dachshund & Shetland Sheepdog / Sheltie Mix Cincinnati, OH

This sweet little muffin is named Magpie, but she also answers to Maggie. Maggie came from a home that had three dogs. When one of the dogs became very ill the dynamics between the dogs completely changed and although they sought the help of a trainer the family admitted they really did not put in the effort, so Magpie was brought to STAF.

Magpie is around 5 years old and she arrived a *little* plumper than she should be and will definitely benefit from a home that would like to give this sweetheart some walks to help her get back to a healthy weight. Magpie is definitely an interesting mix and she could be Sheltie-Spaniel and maybe some longhair dachshund thrown into the mix as well.

Magpie is still adjusting to living at STAF but her calmer temperament is definitely helping her in the transition. We know that Magpie is used to living with other dogs and has does very well living in a home. She loves to spend time with the volunteers being brushed, sitting on laps and taking walks whenever she gets the chance.

Magpie would probably prefer a calmer home without young children or a a ton of activity. Magpie will be quite the catch for that family seeking an easy-going, lap-loving dog that is loyal and devoted to her humans through good times and bad. All sweet Magpie is seeking is the same in return.

Magpie’s estimated birth date is August 2013
Magpie will need: A patient home that will give Magpie time to adjust as well as a home that will give her the exercise she needs to get back to her healthy weight.
Magpie would love: A home with a fenced yard for her to romp in as well as a home to take her to positive based training to help her to gain back the confidence she has lost.

You must be 21 years or older to adopt a dog from STAF

We require a physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog's behavior and exercise needs.

Invisible fences - Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training--we cannot adopt to homes with invisible fences unless otherwise noted in a dog's online profile.

We do request vet and personal references.

At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 75 miles of Cincinnati.
