Maggie in Kentucky's Story

FOSTERED IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. Hi, I’m Maggie, a fun loving almost 3 year old gal. I love morning snuggles and playtime, long leash walks in the woods, stalking squirrels, chasing squeaky balls, playing in water, and cold weather. I’m looking for a forever home where my people are confident, calm, consistent and active. I have super sensitive hearing and sense of smell so I’m easily stimulated. I’m also kinda a chicken so I bark really loud when things make me nervous, but I stop easily with a treat or a queue from my foster mom. They say I have social anxiety and am highly reactive, but as I have learned to trust my person to lead, I really only get excited about other dogs on leashes that get within my safety zone of about 12 feet. Even with that I am easily distractable with treats and playing, most of the time. I suppose I am a bit of a handful, but once we get a routine down and I learn to trust you to be proactive and tell me what to do, I respond well to you taking lead. Exercise helps me not be so anxious too, like long walks, playing tag with my people, and playing fetch. I respond well to a calm voice, know basic commands, walk nicely on a leash, am crate trained, and house trained. I do need to be an only child, so absolutely no other four legged or two legged kids in the house full time or visiting regularly. A quiet neighborhood or someone that lives off the beaten path would be nice. I need a fenced yard or area to play tag and play with my squeaky ball off leash too. I’m hanging out in Louisville, Kentucky right now. If you think you could be my forever family, please fill out an application online at www.abrl.org. Direct questions to Colleen at KYcoord@abrl.org.
