Maggie Rottweiler Lincoln, NE
- Spayed / neutered.
Petfinder recommends that you should always take reasonable security steps before making online payments.
Maggie is a very loving dog who ADORES her people maybe just a little too much! She guards those she loves so any potential adopter will need to be aware of this and continue working with her on this behavior. She also has some separation anxiety; she will cry until she knows someone is home with her.
Maggie loves car rides, walks (we are up to 20 min), and her daily trip to Starbucks for her pup cup. She also enjoys sitting out on the deck or in the grass getting some sun. She adores children and can interact with young kids, however, due to her guarding and protective nature, we recommend her adoptive home should not have children under 12. This lil lady does not like yappy, hyper dogs and has shown to prefer calm males. She is not reactive to other dogs on the leash but will try to pull you toward them and whine as she wants to check them out.
She LOVES her fosters two sons ages 24 and 17, and her 26-year-old daughter and boyfriendMaggie just doesnt like her fosters husband. Were told hes a little stand-offish so that could be why she doesnt like him yet loves everyone else in the house. She will try to chase her fosters husband out of rooms, but her husband just ignores Maggie and will go about his business so she either stops or is redirected. She has never tried to bite, just intimidate.
Maggie is playful and loves to play Tug-O-War with her toys, she will grumble while playing but stops as soon as the playing stops. Maggie is protective of her home. She will bark at people entering the home (once she knows they are ok, she will check them out and ask for pets), and she barks at anyone passing her yard. Her foster has a privacy fence, so she barks at the noises she hears, and heads to the short portion of chain link fence in her neighbors yard when their yappy little dog is out so she can regulate the neighborhood.
Maggies perfect family would be retired or someone who works from home, is patient and allows her to warm up to them, is able to walk her daily, take her on car rides and has children over 12. Her new Adopter should have experience with resource guarding and be willing to work with her to manage those behaviors. She would do best in a home without stairs or minimal stairs, and either carpeted floor or lots of area rugs as she slips on hardwood floors. She is really struggling with slipping and falling on hardwood floorsher foster even put out a bunch of carpet runners to give her a safe path to move through the rooms but Maggie now just jumps to each rug and ends up still slipping and sliding, her foster is concerned she is going to hurt herself badly one of these times.
Maggie will follow you anywhere if you put her leash on. She is afraid of her fosters floors and seems to feel more secure on her leash when walking across the hardwood floors and she slips. She is extremely attentive and is really a loving dog, she just has to be the one to initiate the love.
