Meet Maddux

Maddux was 7 in December. Though you would never know it from his energy level. He loves walks (he does pull) and running in his yard. He is great for car rides and just simply lays down or sits. He has completed over 2 years of training when he was a young puppy. He does know his commands of sit, stay, leave it, come, drop it. He loves cats and small animals and has never hurt one. He has actually cornered a bunny trying to ask it to play and did the puppy play bow and then laid on his back like dogs do during play. We have a 6 yr old a 4 yr old and a newborn. I completely trust him with my children. The middle one has used him as a stool and he just got up and walked away. He has not had an accident in the house since he was less than a year. He can make it 8 - 10 hours if he had to but has been brought up being let out about every 2-3 hrs. He does whine or bark at door to go out. He must be watched while outside or he will eat his own poop. Every item has been tried to break this and has not corrected it (pills, hot sauce, shock collar, food additives, muzzle). When visitors come over Maddux loves them (even if you are not home, he is not a watch dog). He loves them a bit too much in fact and is known to jump, whine, knock kids over as well as small adults. He will calm after 15-20 min and it is helpful when the guest ignores him when he behaves this way. Maddux also barks at any strange noise (wind, cars, unbalanced washer, footsteps upstairs, thunder, guns, chainsaws). We have tried a thundershirt and Prozac and sedatives. He also has a problem when anyone runs a drill or powertool. He does appear and sound like a watchdog toward power tools. That has been the only time I have ever wondered if he would bite. But in 7 years of house renovation projects he never has. He is also not good for nail cuts. We have to give him sedation pills for the vet to come to the house to trim them. He would come with Heartgard, food, toys, leash, and collar. Potential adopters must have fenced in yard and will agree to keeping him as indoor, family pet. For all serious inquiries, please contact his current owner Michelle at (309) 648-9364. You will also need to submit an application on our website at www.VetCareAnywhere.com
