MACCHIA Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler Tucson, AZ

Macchia is a sweet gal who graduated from PACCs decompression program for shy and fearful dogs. The shelter environment can be intimidating, and sometimes a girl needs a little help from her friends to feel safe! Macchia was adopted from PACC and spent several months in a home before returning. She was unfortunately kept outdoors, so needs a family who not only respects her needs when it comes to adjusting to a new environment, but who will welcome her indoors to be by their side. Macchia needs to take things slow- not every dog is a snuggle bug who wants to be immediately wrapped in bear hugs, and thats ok! She needs to take things at her own pace, and really deserves the type of family who will support her. Macchia did well with another resident dog in her adoptive home and shares her kennel with another sensitive, shy pup. When meeting other dogs in playgroup Macchia was nervous and mostly kept to herself. Shed like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure its a good fit. Heres what one volunteer said about this sweet lady: Macchia is a bit shy so I entered her kennel and got down to her level. She came over to sniff but did not want to stay by my side. I found that she enjoyed treats, and I was able to lure her back over to me with them. Macchia likes affection, so once I gave her a treat I started giving her neck scratches which she really enjoyed. Leaving the kennel area was easy and we had a nice walk together. We sat in the park together for a while and she did lots of rolling around in the grass like a silly pup. I knelt down to her level and calmly removed her slip lead without any issues.
