This Macy (formerly Mabel) is looking for a dog free hospice foster or adopter. The rescue will waive her adoption fee if someone wanted to adopt her. Macy is located in Dartmouth, NS.

Like many other older dumped dogs in Texas, Macy was an overbred pup who was dumped once she was of no use to them. Macy's rescue life started on Jan 3-2024 when she became a resident of Kurth Memorial Shelter in Lufkin Texas. In danger of being euthanized, Furever Homes Dog Rescue of SETX (Atlantic Canada Adoptables) stepped in to give Macy chance at a family of her own.

Fast forward to Sept 2024, we know some bad adopters will slip through the cracks but this one blew us all away. Macy's Canadian Family dumped her at the local shelter without looking back and continued to lie to us. It was just by chance one of our volunteers noticed her on a Facebook post of dogs in the pound.

Now safely back in our care, we had Macy to the vet today. She has several lumps in her mammary glands which is most likely cancer. Sadly, Macy is also heartworm positive, and although she has started her treatment months ago, she high risk to not survive the anesthesia for the surgery.

Despite all of this Macy greeted me today with a face full of kisses, lots of tail wags, let the vet techs at Herring Cove Veterinary Hospital give her a much needed nail trim.

We are hoping that someone out there will be able to give Macy the dog free home she needs to live out the rest of her life.
