Lyric is a sweet and expressive lady! She spent her life prior to rescue as a breeder dog in a puppy mill. She is 6-7 years old and weighs 10-15 lbs.
Lyric is happy to be free and smiles all the time! She wiggles her little back end and gives you a smile whenever you talk to her. She is a little unsure about being picked up and will pancake to the floor when a person leans in to pick her up.
Lyric is good with other dogs but growls when they come near her food. She's never acted on it but would do best if she could eat away from other dogs. Lyric is a big fan of dog beds and her human's bed! She has learned to climb up the doggy stairs to get in bed each night, but she hasn't figured out how to go down. She also enjoys sunbathing when it's not too hot.
Lyric is considered a flight risk and does not know how to walk on a leash. She will require a secure, physical fenced yard.
Lyric's adoption fee is $315. She recently received a dental and she is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for our process and an application.
WE DO ADOPT OUT OF THE AREA, HOWEVER, WE DO NOT SHIP NOR ARRANGE TRANSPORTS. YOU WILL HAVE TO COME TO DECATUR, IL TO MEET THE DOG. IF FLYING, DOGS MUST FLY IN THE CABIN AND THE EXPENSE OF THE HEALTH CERTIFICATE IS ON THE ADOPTER.
THE APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BEFORE WE CAN START THE PROCESS.
IT CAN TAKE AT LEAST 7 DAYS TO PROCESS AN APPLICATION SOMETIMES LONGER DEPENDING ON VOLUNTEER AVAILABILITY AND NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED SO PLEASE BE PATIENT AS WE ARE VOLUNTEERS WITH FAMILIES AND FULL TIME JOBS AND DOGS OF OUR OWN TO CARE FOR.
IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 9 MONTHS): YOU MUST HAVE A FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE OR SOMEONE HOME ALL DAY. PUPPIES NEED TO BE LET OUT TO POTTY OFTEN, THEY NEED SOCIALIZATION AND BONDING AND NEED TRAINING (HOUSETRAINING AND BEHAVIORAL TRAINING). IF YOU WORK LONG HOURS, HAVE A BUSY SOCIAL SCHEDULE OR NOT FINANCIALLY SECURE THEN A PUPPY IS NOT FOR YOU.
