Luzia's Story
All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step.
Meet Luzia — the little lamb-lookalike with the biggest heart! At just 1 year old and a tiny 11 lbs, Luzia has already shown what a brave, resilient girl she is. She came to us severely matted and needed a full shave-down, but even then, her sweet spirit never dimmed. As her soft, fluffy coat grows back, she truly looks (and feels!) like a tiny baby lamb. Her name, Luzia, means “bright light” in Italian — and she was given that name because of her bright, joyful spirit that shines through everything she does. Luzia is incredibly loving, social, and snuggly. She lives for lap time, belly rubs, and being close to her humans. She’s also housebroken, which makes her an even more perfect little companion. When she’s not cuddled up on a lap, she adores playtime with other pups and will eagerly engage with toys as long as she has a human playmate. She’s fostered with both big and small pups and gets along wonderfully with all of them — in fact, she prefers dogs who enjoy lots of play. Though she has playful bursts, Luzia doesn’t seem to need much exercise. What she wants most is attention, companionship, and plenty of cuddle time. Her ideal home is one where someone has the time to give her the affection and lap time she craves. She truly thrives when she gets to be near her people. Now that she’s experiencing New Hampshire winter temps, she has made it clear that cold weather is not her thing. She’d much rather curl up under blankets and stay warm like the little princess she is. This little lamb is the perfect mix of sweet, social, silly, and snuggly. Luzia truly is a bright light, and she’s ready to bring warmth, joy, and endless love to her forever family.

All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped.
The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only.
