Can't adopt but want to help? Please contact sueb@homewardtrails.org to find out about sponsorship, fostering, and other ways you can help this animal! Please note that financial sponsorship will be applied to the specific animal you indicate unless it is not needed, at which time we will let you designate it for another HT animal of your choice.
You can save animals like Lupe by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters, so that they have more time to find a permanent family. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering animals.
Want to meet a handful of dogs in person? Check out a list of our upcoming pet adoption events.
This teeny little pocket-sized girl is Lupe. She is a 6 year-old Chihuahua. What a cutie pie she is! Lupe was given up when her owner developed severe allergies.
Poor Lupe was terrified at the shelter. She is now safe in a loving foster home. She is great with other dogs of all sizes, good with cats, and is only 5 lbs. Lupe can be nervous of new people..so she needs someone can go slow with her at first. When she came to foster from the shelter, she came out of her crate and in five minutes was in her foster's lap. But she needs an understanding person. Afterall, it's scary being such a small girl in a big world!Lupe is housebroken and loves to cuddle. She will flip over on her back for a belly rub. She will not be placed in a home with kids, as she will be scared of them. So a nice quieter home with adults will be best!
The adoption fee for this dog is $300, which covers the cost of routine vet care, as well as spay/neuter surgery.
