Meet Luna

Luna is a 4 year pittie mix. She is is current on her shots, microchipped and spayed neutered. Luna has been in foster care and this is what they had to say about her….

“Basically we have (almost) nothing but good things to say about Luna. She's as gentle, but she's noticeably independent and doesn't have to be standing next to you every moment. Not that she's not eager to be with you -- she definitely is -- but when we put her in the yard by herself for hours on end, she'll wander around and check things out all by herself.

More particularly, here are some of Luna's strong points. Outside she plays well with adult visitors and with the Labrador from next door (no knowledge of her with cats or kids), she rarely barks at all, including at things in the driveway or next door, she'll chase anything you throw (although she's not good about bringing it back to you), she doesn't try to jump over, burrow under, or wriggle through the fences, she doesn't "bolt for freedom" when a gate is opened, she's not unduly afraid of the riding lawnmower or even the weed whacker, she wasn't bothered by the fireworks on the Fourth, she doesn't try to rush the door if she wants in or out (a firm "No" stops her in her tracks), and she patiently lets us stand over her and lift each paw separately to wipe them dry before coming in.

Inside she's every bit as good as outside: Again she interacts well with visitors, has had no peeing or pooping accidents, slept quietly and without incident the several nights she slept by herself in the mudroom, has been sleeping just as quietly since we moved her and her bed into our bedroom, stays off the furniture (although she tested us at first), hasn't tried to get food off the kitchen counter, eats her own food as soon as it's put out, lies/sleeps quietly out of the way when something's going on, and can easily do the 16 steps to our upstairs.

So you can see that we'd give her exceptionally high marks. Someone's going to get a great dog. She seems a tad "insecure" when we give attention to the dog next door. For example, if we go outside and greet Luna first with nice words, she's all wiggly, licky and happy. But then when we turn to greet the neighbor dog as well, Luna whines (the only time she does) and tries hard to push her way back under our hands. So far she hasn't been aggressive to either us or to the other dog but it's clear that she's not 100% thrilled to have us give attention to the other dog. We have no idea if that's just normal foster-dog insecurity and will fade, or if it's something deeper and might make it tough for her to share her Forever Home. And as we say, it's not a big deal even if it never changes. But we wanted to mention it FYI. Bottom line: We think Luna's a fine dog and will make someone very happy.
