Meet Luna - Adoption Pending
Meet Luna! Luna’s foster family describes her as a content girl with a gentle soul and an energy that is sure to warm any home. Her favorite things to do include chewing on her bones, stealing toys from her canine foster brother, gazing out the window and going for walks. In the morning, she will quietly rest her head on the side of her foster mom’s bed when she is ready to get up. Who wouldn’t love to trade in their alarm clock for this sweetie! Luna can be shy at first and would love a patient and relaxed family that is willing to take the time to build her confidence through slow and gentle exposure to new people and situations. With proper introductions, Luna meets new people politely with tags wags, but can be a bit slower to warm up to men.
Luna would likely adjust well to life in a house or a condo in a lower traffic neighbourhood. She is a ladies gal though and through and is quicker to feel comfortable around women. She would do best in a home with older, calm children (12+) who understand dog etiquette as loud noises and unpredictable movements can make her jumpy. She would love another well-adjusted dog sibling but is not cat tested.
Luna is medium energy and currently enjoys a 30 minute walk in the morning and evening, and a 45 midday walk with the dog walker. In addition to her walks, she gets potty breaks and backyard play time. Luna walks very well on leash and is not a puller unless she sees a squirrel. She is a quick study though and is easily redirected. Luna meets new people and dogs nicely when out for walks and is only nervous of loud traffic like big trucks.
With consistency, Luna is a quick learner. She knows sit, wait and is working on come. She would benefit from a family willing to invest in a basic obedience class. When her people go out, she is crated and settles quickly for up to 5 hours. Luna does get a mid day break with the dog walker if her people are way longer than this. Luna is still learning what to distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate chew toys and has tried to chew a basket, furniture or electric cords. She is easily redirected though and she should be able to earn free reign in time.
Luna’s potty training is a work in progress and she does still have some accidents. She will require a consistent schedule to ensure her ongoing success with potty training.
