Meet Lulu
Lulu is a bright, affectionate, and spirited pup who's ready to steal your heart (and maybe your snacks if you're not watching ). This adorable rescue girl is a total people-lover and gets very excited when meeting new humans-sometimes a little too excited, so she's working on not jumping up to say hello. But hey, it just means she's thrilled to meet you!
She's a fun-loving, treat-motivated gal who lives for zoomies in the yard, and playing tug or cuddling her soft plush toys. She already knows a few commands like sit, come, and stay/wait, and while she's still building her off-leash recall, she's eager to learn and wants to please.
Lulu generally does well with other dogs and tends to be on the submissive side, but she can get a little jealous when it comes to sharing attention, food, or toys-so she'd really thrive as your one-and-only pup or with a very mellow, understanding dog sibling. A home without young kiddos (or one with older, dog-savvy children) would be the best match for her energetic but sensitive personality.
She's also house-trained, non-destructive when left home uncrated, and a total sweetheart-but she does experience a bit of separation anxiety. Because of this, she'll do best with someone who's home more often than not, and who can offer patience, reassurance, and a quiet, stable routine as she settles in.
Lulu is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready for her next chapter. She just needs a kind, committed human to help her feel safe, loved, and truly at home. Once she bonds with you, get ready for a loyal, joyful best friend who thinks you hung the moon.
***SDH is assisting Lulu's family with her rehoming. She's currently with her owners in the Portland area.***

steps to adopting
(OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS ARE IN SEPARATE TEMPORARY FOSTER HOMES BETWEEN BEND/CENTRAL OREGON AND THE GREATER PORTLAND AREA. THEREFORE, MEET AND GREETS ARE NOT DONE AT OUR FACILITY. TO LEARN MORE, PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ADOPTION APPLICATION ONLINE AND OUR ADOPTION PROGRAM MANAGER WILL REACH OUT TO YOU WITH FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MEET YOUR NEW PUP!)
The first step to adopting a dog from SDH is to complete the adoption application. First click on the "OUR DOGS tab up above, and then click on the orange colored "Fill out an Adoption Application here" button to start the process). Once submitted, please expect 3-5 business days or sooner for processing and to hear back from us. Once you are pre-approved, your adoption application will remain on file with us for 1 year and it can go towards multiple adoptions within that 1 year time frame before it expires.
To finalize an adoption you must sign the adoption contract and pay the full adoption fee of $300. The adoption fee helps cover our costs. On average, per dog, it costs SDH between $500-$700 for vetting/medical/sterilization, transport and other rescue related expenses. All dogs are rescued and do not transport to SDH until they are healthy and ready to be adopted. All dogs are examined by a veterinarian before they fly, which includes sterilization whenever possible, given standard vaccines and rabies (if age appropriate). Most dogs are sterilized before they come into our program, however if this is not the case we will spay/neuter them once they arrive at our cost.
Upon their arrival, all dogs are seen for a wellness exam by SDH's medical team. Once the adoption is finalized, any further medical care or treatment will not be covered by SDH, unless discussed prior with our medical team. All known issues are disclosed to the best of our ability prior to finalizing the adoption.
