Meet Luke
Looking for an energetic, affectionate companion who will adore you? Luke is the cuddly Maltese/Terrier mix or live teddy bear (we haven't decided) you've been waiting for! He's 2 years old, 17 lbs, and has a ton of personality packed into his fluffy, low-rider body.
Luke's favorite thing in the world is cuddling up with his humans. He'll be your personal shadow and thrives on attention. His playful side comes out when it's time to run around (he loves fetch!) but his true love is snuggling close and getting all the belly rubs you can offer.
While Luke is a happy and well-adjusted pup overall, he can get nervous in new situations and also prefers not to be left alone for long periods. His foster parents work with him daily on crate/separation training, confidence building in public spaces, and leash manners. Luke will do best in a home where someone is around most of the time and willing to continue training. He's getting the hang of apartment life, but his foster family thinks he'd be happiest in a quieter neighborhood with a yard.
When introduced slowly, Luke does well with other dogs-he adores playing with his 60 lb foster brother. With new canine companions, a slow and mindful introduction is key to making sure everyone gets along. Luke hasn't spent much time around children yet, so we recommend a home with older teens or adults.
With patience and additional training, Luke will learn to feel more comfortable and trusting with new spaces and experiences.
