Here is more about Luke!
6-year-old, 60-pound Hound mix
House-trained / Crate-trained
Dogs: Luke lives with another resident dog and they do alright. On occasion, they will play together in the yard. Luke tends to guard his personal space when he is feeling confined so his preference would be to be an only dog or be with another low energy dog that just likes to co-exist.
Cats: Luke has great enthusiasm to chase cats and needs to go to a cat-free home.
Kids: Luke tends to guard his personal space, so he cannot go to a home with kids. If there are teenagers, they need to be dog-savvy and recognize and be respectful of his mood.
Luke has moments where he is quiet, content, loving and affectionate to no end. He also has moments where he becomes recluse, does not want his personal space entered, and retreats to his crate. He is Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde in a sense. After he has his alone time and calms down, he is back to being his happy, loving self. Luke will need an adopter who is patient and tolerant with his mood swings and can continue to work with him on the behaviors.
Luke loves ear scratches, belly rubs, naps in the sun, and long walks through the neighborhood. He is not a fan of random noises, robot vacuums, or the invasion of his personal space when he is having one of his moments.
Luke LOVES walks and while he is not a super active dog, he really enjoys his strolls through the neighborhood each day. He has also been trained to walk next to you and will let you go through doorways and gates first. His foster has been using a martingale collar on him and he does great.
Luke can be left to roam free while you are out as he is not destructive. He does have hound instincts and will bark at wildlife, birds, or other noises that interrupt his naps in the sunshine. He LOVES naps in the sunshine!
Luke is a little bit Dr. Jekyll, a little bit Mr. Hyde, and totally and completely worth your patience, love, continued training, and tolerance!
