Meet Luke

Yup. Luke is available. Please submit an application if you'd like to meet him and to get pre-approved to adopt any dog from our Rescue..

Luke is about 11 months old and weighs 65 lbs.

His previous owners fell into hard times and couldn’t afford to keep him so he hitched a ride north on the freedom train and is now happily settling into his foster home.

Luke has a big, lovable, kissable, wrinkly head. Despite his size, he still acts like a rambunctious little puppy with abounding energy. He's had little training, but knows "sit", is great about going outside to do his business, coming when called (which is usually the most difficult command to learn), and understands that the word: "NO!" is not his name. LOL.

Like most Labs, he is food-motivated, so the rest of his training should come easy. Because of his tendency to grab things he shouldn't, he is crated when left alone, but when you're home, he has free reign. The only furniture he's interested in is your bed, but he will begrudgingly stay off if you tell him enough times.

He loves his walks, especially if he gets to run! He also loves toys to chew and throw around, but his #1 favorite thing to do is play with other dogs. If you're looking for a buddy for your dog, look no further!

He's never shown any aggression-- only an enthusiastic "let's play!", which may not be appreciated by every dog. He does play hard, so no kids under 4. Parents with small children need to keep an eye on him until he gets better trained, but bigger kids would have endless fun with him.

Luke has low interest in squirrels and since he previously lived with a cat, he'd probably just want it to play with one.

Luke is extremely lovable; he cuddles and kisses, and when he looks at you with his big brown eyes, you'll know that he trusts you to love and take care of him.

Luke would be best in a lively home with an attentive family who can give him the exercise and care he craves. With training, there is no doubt he will make a great, obedient pet.
