Hi! My name is Luke. I am the newest arrival at Green Dogs Unleashed. Even though I am not a special needs pup, they found it in their hearts to bring me in to help find me a better life - one that did not include being chained up all alone outside. They tell me that I am an 18 month old Husky/Hound mix boy. On the day I came to Green Dogs Unleashed, Ms Erika was evaluating another Husky/Hound mix, who [Get This] turned out to be my sister. Yep, my very own sister!! What are the odds of THAT? Apparently her Mother felt she needed a little more training, so she reached out to Ms Erika, and that's how she happened to be there when I arrived. It's a crazy story that you can read on the GDU facebook page, if you want to know.

I like other dogs, and I love to play. It would be nice if I had some human kids that would play with me too, but if you want to run or go to the dog park, I am okay with that too. I cannot be allowed off-leash because well, I am a Husky/Hound mix and that means I LOVE to chase 'things'. An electric fence is NOT going to keep me in, and I can climb, so I need a 6 foot solid fence around my yard, and will need supervision when outside, at least until I get used to my new home. Like most dogs, if there is something at home that is more interesting than what's outside that fence, I am sure less likely to climb. I will need lots of daily exercise!


Green Dogs Unleashed is happy to consider applicants from out of state. However, if the applicant is approved, they must be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of 300.00. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses, as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
