Lucy (Medical Recovery)'s Story
Lucy is a tiny 8.5-pound black-and-tan mini dachshund. She is 4 years old, but is mistaken for a puppy often. She came to the rescue after having been diagnosed with IVDD 3 months prior. Her back is doing much better, but she does have some deformed back legs we are seeing if we can strengthen them.

UPDATE: Lucy can stand and take several steps. Her IVDD is no longer painful, and she has regained partial bladder control, but still wears a diaper inside. We are now focusing on hydrotherapy several times a week to continue her strength training and looking at custom braces for her back legs to keep her knees/ankles in alignment.

She is now fully vaccinated (Rabies, DHPP & Bordetella), but will need 1 booster in a few weeks. Lucy is scheduled for a dental on August 11th as her teeth have a surprising amount of tartar for a younger pup.

Lucy has started laser, acupuncture, and swim therapy, which we hope will strengthen her body and restore more of her mobility. She also has an Assisi loop which we are using on her multiple times a day to reduce inflammation.

To be considered for Lucy, please apply on our website:

https://www.portlanddachshundrescue.org/adoptionform

Lucy is sweet and loves to be close to her humans. She loves to "dig" in your hair if it's long, and will even chew it! She so silly.
