ESTIMATED DOB: 2011
WEIGHT: 40 lbs
KIDS: Yes
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Unknown

HISTORY:
Lucy came to us from an organization in Louisiana.

ABOUT:
Lucy is a very pleasant, easy, “chill” senior lady. Her foster dad said she rarely lets anything bother her. Lucy loves attention, but is not demanding of it. Sometimes if she wants some scratches she will take it into her own hand and just rub her head or body on her foster dad’s legs. She likes to follow her foster family around the house out of curiosity to see what they are doing, but doesn’t constantly get in the way. Lucy gets along well with the resident dog. Lucy was recently diagnosed with Cushing’s disease. Cushings disease causes dogs to feel very hungry all the time. Because of the constant feelings of hunger she has likely experienced for some time, Lucy does have food aggression so she needs to be fed alone.

Lucy enjoys walks and is very pleasant to walk on leash. Lucy does not live with children, but her foster dad said she has done really well with the children they have met. She also is good about asking to go outside. Lucy is generally low energy and likes to lounge most of the day, but she gets very excited when her foster dad comes home from work and when it is meal time. She is not currently being crated because someone is home all the time, but she was for a short period. She was grudgingly agreeable to it, but her foster dad would guess that she might not even need to be crated based on her behavior in the house. Lucy is a very sweet, gentle, easy lady looking for someone who just wants a friendly, calm companion.

***Lucy has been diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease. To serve as an example of costs an adopter might incur in adopting Lucy the following is the recommended treatment from our veterinarian: Additional Stim test & Bloodwork in September or October ($260). If her numbers are still stable and symptoms do not change, they recommend a repeat of this same test in one year if there are no changes to her health/behavior. The cost of her medication is $70/mo.
