Meet Lucy
Hello, I’m Lucy!!
I am a young at heart 13-year-old Cockapoo that wants to be your next cuddle buddy. I lived with my first Dad until I was 13, when he had to go into assisted living.
In September I came to live with my Boston Terrier friend Ellie. She and I aren’t best friends but we tolerate each other. I like my humans more than other animals, I’m not aggressive but I think they might be trying to steal time with my humans. I will let out a warning growl and try to seem tough but I’ve NEVER tried to bite anyone...people or animals. I’m a big softy, and besides most my teeth are gone!
I love to go on walks and I don’t run off even when I’m not on a leash. In fact I love to follow my people to every room they go into. I don’t get in the way, but I want to keep you in my sight at all times. At night I cuddle with you and love when you give me kisses on my nose and rub my face. Then I curl up at your feet and give you space in bed.
I have been known to potty my bed sometimes because I’m a deep sleeper. My current person found an easy trick for that. She just puts me in size 3 baby diapers for humans!! They are super comfy and she cuts a hole for my tail.
I’m great in the car and love to feel the wind on my face! I get bored at dog parks and will most likely just stare at you until you take me somewhere else...again it’s because other animals are boring to me, I love my people!!
Because old age has crept in a bit I have trouble seeing and have been known to jump on something only to miss it, or stumble. My hearing sometimes goes out (I had a lot of ear infections when I was little) but if I don’t hear you, just clap and wave your hands. I’ll come running over.
If I’m startled I will bark, but once you tell me everything is OK I’ll stop. New visitors just have to say Hi and then I’m their best friend. I don’t really need play toys, although I LOVE to tear up Kleenex (give me a tissue and I’m the happiest dog ever) but pretending like you’re going to get me or hiding behind a wall to scare me is my favorite game.
Trust is a very big deal to me, and I either love you soooooooo much or I stay away. I’ve been moved around a lot in the last year so I think that’s why.
My person right now has to move and can’t take me. We are both really sad about it. I know I’m an old lady and that most people want young dogs. If you bring me home I promise to be a really good girl (once we get through the growing pains) and be the best cuddle buddy you’ve ever had.
