Lucky Lucio's Story
ABOUT LUCKY LUCIO
This sweet, handsome boy was found as a stray in Texas and came to us on a transport in 2021. He was adopted shortly after arriving, but his owners recently had to return him, through no fault of his own. Upon his return, we discovered that Lucky had a torn CCL and would need surgery to repair it. To support his recovery, he was placed in a loving foster home. Given his size and the severity of his injury, Lucky's other leg began bearing too much weight, resulting in a second injury. While he will now need another CCL repair, Lucky is available through a foster-to-adopt arrangement in which HAP will cover the cost and care of all his medical treatments.

Here is what Lucky's foster parents had to say about him: "Lucky is very calm, easygoing, and completely housetrained, he has never had an accident. He does well meeting new dogs and new people, and he's comfortable walking past cats unless they're hiding under a car or running, then he gets a little excited. Lucky is easy to redirect on walks, and he's truly a pleasure to stroll with. He loves getting a Greenie after a long walk and even does a little dance if we forget to give him one! Lucky rides very well in the car and enjoys exploring the woods and parks in our area. Above all, though, he loves his spot on the couch. He cuddles with us in the middle of the couch in the evenings but happily takes over one end when we're not using it. If you're looking for a calm, easygoing companion, Lucky is your guy."

Lucky Lucio is currently in a foster home, available for adoption by-appointment.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
