Meet Lucio
Lucio is a very sweet and silly boy! RTHRS saved 2 year old Lucio from being euthanized at a rural shelter. He was extremely underweight and had been given no medical attention. We took him straight to the vet where he was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and confirmed heartworm positive.
Lucio had his first heartworm treatment injection on September 9th but had a very rough time recovering. He was due for the second/third shot but was still not feeling well, so the vet did not move forward with the injections. Lucio needs a safe landing where he can be kept primarily on crate rest while he continues to recover from heartworm.
Lucio is 46 pounds and is super sweet.
He loves everyone! He is good with other dogs but a home with no others, or a female, would be best as he will need to be on crate rest during his recovery.
