Meet Lucas
Lucas -- Available!
Intake date 19 August 2023 . 1-2 year old neutered male 22lb 'mini Aussie'. . Lucas came to us from a shelter partner where he had been picked up as a stray and not reclaimed. Lucas got off the transport and hasn't put a foot wrong since. . Lucas is easy going, affectionate, friendly with dogs and adult humans. We do not have history with cats. Lucas is crate trained, situationally house trained - he asks to go out - is playful with dogs, and really loves his peeps. . Lucas will do best in an active home with other canine companions, and humans that enjoy spending time with their pups. . A note from Lucas' foster: Lucas is one amazing little dog. He warmed up to us quickly, and by the end of the first day with us, he was rolling onto his back for tummy rubs. Nothing makes him happier than a good roll in the grass on a sunny day. He hasn't had any accidents in the house, and he's good about letting us know that he needs to go outside by pacing. He's a world class snuggler, and he hasn't met a stranger. He's still figuring out how to play appropriately (he tries to nip at my other dogs' feet when they're playing), but he's very easy to correct. He's somewhat reactive to moving things (vacuum cleaner, cars), but again, he's very easy to redirect. He is doing great on a leash, and we have been working on some basic commands. He is going to make a lucky adopter very happy! . This dog is located in Maryland - we do not ship or transport dogs. For information on adoption, an FAQ, and our application, please see our website at mabcr.org. If you are interested in adoption, please submit an application, complete with documentation. . Dogs that have not lived previously with children will not be offered to homes where young children reside. We do not 'test' dogs with children or cats, since testing here will not show an accurate picture, and may give potential adopters false comfort. If a dog has lived with children or cats, that will be stated above. We do not place dogs as ESA, nor will we place a dog as hypo-allergenic. Applicants interested in adoption of a potential service dog must be working with an experienced trainer. . Please note that some young dogs may be placed with an alter deposit and contract, and any available dog of any age may be placed with a training deposit and contract -- this would be noted on offer, prior to placement. For additional information on these policies, please see our website. . Questions about dogs are generally not answered here due to lack of staffing. All available dogs may not be listed on our website due to time constraints and does not effect a specific dog's availability. Additional information and photos will be posted here as time permits.
