Meet Lucas
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail it to sueb@homewardtrails.org.
Can't adopt but want to help? Please contact sueb@homewardtrails.org to find out about sponsorship, fostering, and other ways you can help this animal! Please note that financial sponsorship will be applied to the specific animal you indicate unless it is not needed, at which time we will let you designate it for another HT animal of your choice.
You can save animals like Lucas by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters, so that they have more time to find a permanent family. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering animals.
Want to meet a handful of dogs in person? Check out a list of our upcoming pet adoption events.
This GORGEOUS boy is Lucas. He is a 3-4 year Hound boy. He came to us from a TERRIBLE situation...a hoarding/neglector who had more than 59 dogs...all of which died except 9. Together with a few other rescues, HT stepped up to take 2 dogs each..and Lucas and his buddy Levi came to us. Poor boys. Luckily, Lucas is in decent shape...He is neutered now, current on his shots and heartworm negative (surprise!). He is 55 lbs, strong and outgoing. We are testing him with dogs this week but expect him to do well since he lived with so many prior. He would like a home where he can run and play and get lots of excercise. He will need to be crate trained, as he lived his whole life outside...but he's willing to learn. He told us so!!!
The adoption fee for this dog is $275, which helps with the cost of routine vet care, as well as spay/neuter surgery.
