Lovepug's Story

Lovepug was transferred to Valley Humane on 1/22 from the Tri-City Animal Shelter. He had been found stray. Lovepug weighs 22 pounds and is a young adult (estimated to be aged between 1 and 4 years old).

This dog had a condition called a prolapsed gland of the nicitating membrane or "cherry eye" in both eyes. With this condition, the tear gland of the third eyelid has broken free of its attachment and popped up where it is visible as a pink mass along the lower eyelid. The cherry eye has been repaired in this dog according to the standard pocket technique. He has recovered from the surgery and so far, the cherry eye appears resolved. However, it is possible that as the sutures dissolve, there may not have been enough healing to hold the gland in place and the cherry eye could recur. If this were to happen, the adopting family should contact their family veterinarian at their own expense regarding treatment options.

Do you have questions about this animal or are you ready to take the next step to adoption?
