Louisa German Shepherd Dog Mix Oklahoma City, OK

Meet Louisa, a 4-month-old Pittie / Shepherd mix who was born around September of last year. She became a Misfit after suffering an injury in her home causing her not to be able to walk. She may also have a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia. This pet is spayed, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, heart-worm negative, and micro-chipped!

Louisa unfortunately has never recovered from the injury to her spine, so she does not walk well. She does use a wheelchair in her foster home and does well with it, but when she is not in the wheelchair, while she gets around, she does more rolling and falling to get around than actually walking. If she takes her time, she can slowly take steps, but when she’s excited she really struggles to keep her balance. Mentally, she is behind for her age, which has made trying to potty train her difficult.

Louisa will take a very special adopter that is willing to take on her special care and needs. She doesn’t require any medications, but she does require a lot of care. She does great with being kenneled, so it’s not a situation where the adopter needs to be home with her all the time, but when she is out and has accidents, she rolls around in the mess sometimes. She can be a bit jumpy with other dogs but loves them. Sometimes they don’t know how to interpret her jerky movements so she would need a home with an understanding playmate.

Louisa LOVES dog toys and bones and just wants to spend her days on a dog bed chewing on a toy. When she is not in her kennel, she immediately finds a good dog bed to lounge on. Since she does fall a lot, her skin in areas can get irritated, but it’s nothing that causes her pain. Louisa is a special girl that we all adore and would love to see that special person come along to show a special needs pet love and affection. She deserves a home to call her own and to spoil her rotten!
