Meet Lottie

DOB April 2022, sweet Lottie arrived into our care with her brothers Skamper, Logan, and Jagger

Lottie is the smallest of her littermates, a female Collie/Poodle mix puppy who is lower shedding but does still shed and is not hypoallergenic.

Lottie has received her booster vaccinations, microchip, deworming and vet exam and is available on a non breeding contract requiring her to return to our vet, located in Arthur ON, for her spay surgery at our expense, when she is at a suitable age.

Lottie loves to be outside and play in the grass with the other dogs, chase a ball, etc
She is not a lap dog type of temperament, and prefers to seek your attention vs being constantly approached for handling, so for her sake we are seeking a child free home to respect her needs and build her confidence on her own terms.

IS YOUR FOSTER DOG FOOD MOTIVATED? Very
GOOD WITH DOGS? Yes, but as with most puppies she needs to be redirected when she gets too riled up and play becomes inappropriate or too rough. She redirects easily.

HOW DOES YOUR FOSTER DOG RESPOND TO DOGS MET ON WALKS?
Curious and friendly with everyone we've met so far

HOW DOES YOUR FOSTER DOG RESPOND TO DOGS SEEN FROM THE YARD OR INSIDE THE HOME? Will bark when our dogs bark if they see another dog outside from the front door but hasn't instigated on her own.

HOW DOES YOUR FOSTER DOG RESPOND TO PEOPLE MET ON WALKS?
She is friendly and curious in all interactions
Very social girl, seems happy to meet everyone

GOOD WITH CATS? Yes, but likes to play /chase at times so a dog savvy cat is important

HOUSETRAINED? No-working on it
CRATE TRAINED? Yes

PLEASE ELABORATE ON YOUR FOSTER DOG'S BEHAVIOR IN THE CRATE.
Loves her crate, its her safe space, we leave it open and available to her and she will go lay in it when she wants to.
Sleeps in her crate for up to 8 hours at night, no messes.

DOES YOUR FOSTER DOG SHOW SIGNS OF SEPARATION ANXIETY? No
PLEASE ELABORATE ON YOUR FOSTER DOG'S LEASH SKILLS. Learning to walk on leash, does well with gentle encouragement
OKAY WITH MANIPULATIONS? Yes
HOW DOES YOUR FOSTER DOG REACT WHEN YOU TOUCH THE EARS, TAIL, PAWS ETC. PLEASE ELABORATE. Fine with touching as long as its not too quick, but is also squirmy at times like most puppies

PERSONALITY? Clever, fun, playful, sweet

THINGS NEEDING IMPROVEMENT? She is a sweet smart puppy who is learning daily. Her housetraining is a work in progress but does well when kept on a schedule and gets thru the night without issues.

Loves all toys, loves to pull stuffing out, loves squeeky toys, balls, kongs etc. As with all puppies, supervision with toys is necessary at all times for safety.
Food motivated, has loved all treats so far

POTTY HABITS: Goes out regularly, will have the odd accident if we don't get her outside right away after a nap. Can sleep thru the night, has been good up to 4 hours if we've had to be out that long

Lottie likes to play keep away at times, when she doesn't want to come in the house or give up the stick or toy she has. We are working on this with her but overall training will be very helpful for her to learn valuable skills such as recall, drop it, leave it and trading. A long line used even in a fenced yard is helpful for training.

Lottie is unsure about the car, she whines at first but settles fairly quickly. She is usually tethered in the back seat or will travel well in a crate.

Lottie would do well in a home with other dogs, dog savvy cats. Her confidence and desire to play with dogs would make it most ideal for her to have a suitable canine companion vs living only with a cat, since she may redirect that puppy play towards a cat.

Our adoption rate for female puppies is $650 which includes ALL of their vetting including spay surgery, microchip, vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and the cost of feeding and caring for them during their time with us.

Notes:
*Registration with a positive method, approved training school/trainer is mandatory for this dog to continue with their training, socialization and to help set them up for success in their forever home/future.
*Must be located within Ontario Canada
*Inground/ground level Pools and ponds must be separately fenced from yard
*The life expectancy of a young puppy is over 15 yrs and therefore is not a suitable match for older seniors/geriatric owners.

Hobo Haven is located in St Jacobs Ontario.
For approved families, we require two in person meetings in St Jacobs ON
If you are not willing to drive to this location to meet our dogs after you are approved, please do not apply. We do not meet elsewhere nor deliver dogs. Adoptions within Ontario only

For anyone possibly interested in adopting from Hobo Haven, here are a few, but not all, criteria to be aware of:

We require all serious applicants to watched "Petfooled" which is a free documentary at this link https://tubitv.com/movies/494913/pet-fooled
, or on Amazon prime or also a variety of other free video sites.

Our motto is "know better/do better" and we ask all adoptive families to be as committed to providing our dogs with quality nutrition as they are to providing love. This documentary is not advertising, purely just educational.

An adoption application must be completed and approved, including vet references as well as a home visit (Zoom during COVID), prior to meeting available dogs.
All dogs are placed in loving foster homes during their time with us, we do not have a shelter to visit.
We do not allow applicants to visit until pre-approved for adoptions. Our dogs are in private foster family homes, not in a shelter.
Any questions may be emailed to hobohavenpetrescue@gmail.com

Due to the high volume of applications received for our dogs, priority of replies will be given to applicants who meet the criteria mentioned in the pet's profile.

Please do not ask us to make exceptions, we set these protocols and policies for the dog's best interests which are always our highest priority.

Emails are best, our volunteers work full time and are often not able to answer or return phone calls in a timely manner.
