Loretta is 2 years old and weighs 10-15 lbs and was rescued from the life of being a breeder dog in a puppy mill.

Loretta loves being near her people but can be shy with people she doesn't know. She is most comfortable with other dogs. She enjoys playing with her furry friends and on occasion will even play solo with her plush toys. She likes to carry her plush toys around the house and will carry them to her favorite dog bed.

When Loretta first came to rescue she was terrified of the outdoors. Now, with the help of her canine friends, she enjoys being outside. She will meander around the yard checking things out and will find a warm place in the sun to relax. She is considered a flight risk and a secure physical fenced yard will be required to adopt.

Loretta can handle time alone as long as she has her crate and a puppy pad. She has really blossomed since coming into rescue. She can be shy, and still has some anxiety over crossing thresholds, but hopefully that will get better with time. Sudden movement and loud noises are scary for Loretta and a home without small children living there is best.

Loretta loves attention and pets but she will not demand it. However, if her person initiates she will accept it with pleasure (once she is comfortable). Loretta needs a canine friend in the home that will play with her and continue to show her how to live the pampered pet life.

Loretta's adoption fee is $365. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped and on flea and heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for our adoption process.

WE DO ADOPT OUT OF THE AREA, HOWEVER, WE DO NOT SHIP NOR ARRANGE TRANSPORTS. YOU WILL HAVE TO COME TO DECATUR, IL TO MEET THE DOG. IF FLYING, DOGS MUST FLY IN THE CABIN AND THE EXPENSE OF THE HEALTH CERTIFICATE IS ON THE ADOPTER.

THE APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BEFORE WE CAN START THE PROCESS.

IT CAN TAKE AT LEAST 7 DAYS TO PROCESS AN APPLICATION SOMETIMES LONGER DEPENDING ON VOLUNTEER AVAILABILITY AND NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED SO PLEASE BE PATIENT AS WE ARE VOLUNTEERS WITH FAMILIES AND FULL TIME JOBS AND DOGS OF OUR OWN TO CARE FOR.

IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 9 MONTHS): YOU MUST HAVE A FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE OR SOMEONE HOME ALL DAY. PUPPIES NEED TO BE LET OUT TO POTTY OFTEN, THEY NEED SOCIALIZATION AND BONDING AND NEED TRAINING (HOUSETRAINING AND BEHAVIORAL TRAINING). IF YOU WORK LONG HOURS, HAVE A BUSY SOCIAL SCHEDULE OR NOT FINANCIALLY SECURE THEN A PUPPY IS NOT FOR YOU.
