Meet Lola

Lola is a young lab mix. She weighed 9.10 lbs on 12-2-15. Lola was found on the streets so her history or true breed is unknown. We think she is about 10 weeks old as of 12/14/15. Lola is in a foster home with adults, other dogs, and cats. She is doing fine with everyone. She is mostly potty trained , kennel trained, and leash trained. She has visited the Humane Society office and did well with the cats , people, and other dogs. She was crated part of the time and did great. We took her outside immediately after she came out of the crate and she did her business appropriately. Lola wants to be a dominant female so will need a family who makes sure she knows people are in charge. She is persistent when she gets interested in something. She and a foster family cat got into a fuss. The cat warned her with a hiss, but Lola paid no mind and got a scratch on her eye. It is superficial but she is having some antibiotics to make sure there are no problems. Lola plays a little rough but with direction, she will be fine. She recognizes food teats as something to be desired, so should be very trainable by using appropriate treat techniques. She sits and waits for treats already. She is smart and wants to please. She likes to tug on clothing and toys so she will need plenty of supervision. Her adoption donation is $175 with $75 returned to you upon proof of spay at 6 months. It also includes a reduction in puppy obedience classes if you are interested. If Lola soounds right for you, please fill out an application at forthepets.org or email us at humanesociety@murray-ky.net. If you have any questions please call us at 270-759-1884.

Dog Adoption Guidelines:

You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. You can fill out an application at www.forthepets.org/adoption.htm or email to humanesociety@murray-ky.net for an application.
It is not a "first come" process; we try to "match" the dog with the family for a FOREVER home. We process all applications at once and take the dog off the site, place on adoption pending status until a decision is made. If a suitable home is not found, the dog returns to active status.
The dog adoption process can take about two weeks; we are a small group of volunteers who have full time jobs.
All of our dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges, unless otherwise specified.
We do not fly or ship our dogs due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the dog back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered.
If you apply to adopt a dog and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the dog and fill out the paperwork in person.
We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport.
We can't provide individual "meet and greet" sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have time to visit with the dog before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
