Livia American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix Saint Paul, MN

Alivia, aka Livi or Livia, (1.5 year old as of June 2015) came to us from a good samaritan owner surrender. She had severe mobility issues, that the good samaritan who ended up caring for her did not have the resources to fully investigate or attempt to heal. Despite her challenges, it was clear immediately that she had a bright and happy personality...and if Livia hadn't given up on life, we couldn't give up on her!

In the months since she has joined the rescue, we have seen tremendous progress for this young gal! When she first arrived, she could barely walk about 10ft before collapsing, could not sit, nor could she really stand in place, could not go up or down stairs. Her limitations were pretty extensive really. But with a raw diet, appropriate supplements, and the help of holistic vet care, Livia now can run, stand, sit, she lowers herself to the ground like a normal dog (vs. collapsing or falling), she can go both up and down stairs with ease, jumps into vehicles to go for rides...basically she is LIMITLESS now! You can still see some subtle differences in the way she moves, but she is as capable as any other dog we've had in our home for sure.

***Given her progress, we strongly desire adopters who will continue her holistic and natural path, as we have serious concerns that exposure to potentially toxic chemicals and substances (i.e. frontline, maybe even common household cleaners, kibble diet) could set back her progress and we would hate to see that! Our best guess as to what was wrong with her before is nervous system disorder potentially related to or compounded by toxicity from environmental irritants. We are happy to walk people through her current diet and her care with us to date and assist in finding continuing care options that seem a good fit.

Livia is crate trained, does great with the her human foster brothers (ages 7 and 2), can be respectful of the resident cranky cat, and interacts nicely with the two other adult female dogs in her foster home. Her foster home even has chickens and ducks outside and she is respectful of them as well! The video is her about a month after she came into foster care. She might never be exactly like a "normal" dog in terms of her body and movement, but she is getting so much closer every day.
