Meet Lionel Therapy Dog

Courtesy Post--not a ZFF dog, just trying to help--please contact Julia directly if you are seriously inquiring, juliacmagnet@gmail.com

Poor 3y , 35lbs Lionel need a new home because his mom has to deal with a debilitating illness.

Lionel is an irresistible dog. a true empath. The belle of the dog park, he somehow manages, to find the puppy who is timid or new to lavish with his irresistible attentions: kisses are his raison d'etre. He remembers all his friends, human and canine, and has been known to bring twigs and leaves to their doorsteps, to haunt their stoops long after they've moved away. A registered therapy dog, his love and loyalty run deep. He imbibes your moods, seemingly knowing what you feel better and before you do. Gazing soulfully into your eyes, waving (his favorite trick) and then meditatively kissing your face seems to be his idea of a cure all. He also tries to groom you and your clothes if the situation seems really dire. He welcomes you home with a toy, and if he can't find one, a scrap of paper or sock. He wants nothing more than to be curled up next to you on the sofa, head in your lap, or sitting at your feet beaming into your eyes, hoping you might notice the toy he brought you, trying to tempt you into a game of fetch. The sound of him racing up and down the hallway squeaking his tennis ball is one of the most joyful sounds I know. And his smile lights up the room. Though he loves naps and Netflix cuddle time, he is a high energy dog and needs proper walks or runs and lots of play time and mental stimulation. He can be fearful in new situations, and would probably do better without small children. He likes cats, though finds them intimidating. Lionel will need an experienced adopter.

Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, you can always donate!
