Meet Lincoln

Let us start off by saying, we as rescuers believe there is a person out there for every kind of dog. Some are easy to find, others are just special people or households, which are much harder to find. They are for special dogs. Dogs who had a rougher life than others and need a little more specialized handling/care than others.
One of those dogs is handsome Lincoln.
Lincoln has been dumped, given up on, and abandoned multiple times. He has found himself picked up as a stray at 40lbs, when he should be 70, dropped off at the shelter, adopted out and returned to the shelter, adopted out, handed down to someone and abandoned by his last owner at a boarding facility, where he stayed for 5 months, in a small kennel. Deteriorating and losing weight due to the stress of being kenneled, with little attention, or stimulation. He had a date set for Euthanasia as the Boarding facility could not find a place for him. PWR pulled him as on the same post was an offer by someone who took him in as a foster.
There he really showed what a sweet boy he is. He loved cuddling and absolutely loves playing with balls and playing fetch. He has learned to take treats gently and has gained 20 lbs back. He is very loyal to his people. He is also very protective of his people and sometimes guards them. Unfortunately, he did not take well to the young teenager in the house and had to be crated when he was around. The Foster did a wonderful job working around this but of course this wasn't an ideal situation and Lincoln is back with the rescue and due to being very full, he is mostly kenneled. He does get rotated out for inside time and has hung out and cuddled with the current foster's small child and teenage kids and there were no issues.
Lincoln is looking for his own person. Someone who is assertive, and willing to love Lincoln for who he is. Someone who is looking for a buddy to share the couch with, play fetch in the yard and share food with. J Someone with a yard and not many visitors to the home. Since Lincoln is crate trained and housebroken, he would just need to be crated if visitors come to the home, which again should not be an issue for the right person.
We don't want to give up on Lincoln like so many other have done, we are really hoping the right home is out there for him.
