LILY Beagle Ventnor City, NJ

Hello! My name is Lily and I am a beautiful & loving girl in search of a special home to call my own. I was found as a stray in the Carolinas and spent a few weeks in a foster home before making the trek up to NJ and Penny Angels Beagle Rescue. I am approx. 2 years old and weigh 25 lbs. (or just a wee bit more). I am up-to-date with my vaccinations and ready to find my new home.

My foster mom learned a lot about me while I was hanging out with her. Please take the time to read my bio so that you can see if I would be a good fit for your home and lifestyle: “Lily is a delightful dog and would be a great addition to your family. She is young and has medium energy so she needs an active family or person who will continue to keep her active. She does NOT need to go to a home where she will just sit around on the couch all day.

“Lily is extremely affectionate. She is always happy when someone comes home and loves to be around people. She gets along well with everyone...men, women, kids...and all dogs, both big and small. Lily loves to play and would be happiest in a house with another playful dog. If she is the only dog in the house, she might get bored and get into ‘trouble’.

“She LOVES toys and will hoard them. She also likes to play with them both inside and outside. She is an active girl but is fairly calm in the house; after a few ‘runs’ around the family room, she will settle down on her bed or couch. With good exercise and play, she wears herself out. She likes to sit and enjoy the couch with you, (but again, couch-sitting should NOT make up the bulk of her day). On a side note, if you don’t want a dog OR dog hair on your furniture, then Lily isn’t the right dog for you.

“Lily is basically house-trained. She has only had one accident since she has been here. She learned to use the doggie door in 5 minutes and does really well letting herself in and out. (She will have to learn new rules in YOUR home.) She loves belly rubs. She sleeps on the bed all night, (usually at the foot of the bed), and likes touching you while she is sleeping. She bonds very quickly to her person and family, and that makes her a loyal companion.

“Lily is a great eater and loves her treats! She gets very excited to get any type of treats and will sometimes hide them for later. She has maintained a nice-looking body and weight while in her foster home, (so please don’t feed her too much or she WILL gain weight).

“Lily loves to run around outside and explore her surroundings. She would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard. She does not try to climb the fence or escape from the yard, but she does tend to dig and will need to be watched. She also might try to sneak out the door when opened, so you have to be extra careful. Lily loves to walk and gets excited when she sees her harness. She walks well but does tend to ‘pull’, especially when she sees a squirrel or bunny. (She should wear a harness and would be easier to walk with one leash on her harness AND another leash on her collar.) We walked approximately 2-4 miles each day. She could easily walk farther and would make a great hiking buddy for someone. She enjoyed the lake and even got in the water... I believe she would love the beach as well.

“Lily is a GREAT dog...she is affectionate, funny, happy, active, curious, and loyal. A new owner must realize, though, that it takes time for any rescued animal to adjust to a new house.”
