Lily is very sweet, silly, personable, smart, attentive, snuggly, hilarious and GORGEOUS. She LOVES people — she bonds quickly and closely, and she will truly be your best friend for life. She's that rare dog who's almost humanlike in her intelligence, responsiveness and sense of humor.
Lily was rescued when she was 4 months old from a backyard on Staten Island where she was living outside 24/7. She was adopted quickly, but when she started showing signs of dog aggression her parents returned her without involving a trainer. She's been failed twice by people and needs a special family without other pets to fall in love with her and commit to her for life.
Lily loves her training sessions — she's very responsive and she's making some progress being around other dogs. But she needs someone who understands her challenges and is 100% committed to continuing her training and working with her every day to be the wonderful dog she wants to be. Lily is so worth it! She is also full of puppy energy and will do best with someone who is active and can give her lots of exercise. After she's done zooming around the yard for hours, all she wants to do is snuggle up on your lap and give kisses. She asks very politely to be let up onto the sofa, and once you tell her it's OK she cuddles up close in a tiny ball.
Lily's in a foster home with other dogs, and she has to be muzzled or crated all the time. Her foster parents give her as much training and attention as they can, but it's not a great situation for a big, high-energy puppy with specific needs. She's a year old now and she's growing up without a family. She needs to get settled into an awesome forever home where she's the only child. She is all you'll ever need! She is super friendly with all people. She wants to chase cats, but could probably learn to live with one.
For someone who wants to be a hero to the dog no one else will adopt, Lily is your girl. Her foster parents will give you detailed information on her specific needs/training/habits and work with you and a trainer to make sure it is the right fit. If you think you might be the person Lily is looking for, please give her a chance. She is a ray of sunshine who will make the right family very happy.
