Meet Lily 2

Lily 2 is a spayed, 6 year old female pekingese mix of 12 pounds.

She is housebroken, doesn't bark unnecessarily, doesn't destroy anything, is very calm in the house, is a speedy-fast learner, has good manners with people, knows her basic commands, walks well on the leash, rides well in a car, is not guarding of her food and is simply striking-looking. Why she’s even up for adoption is a complete mystery but whatever the reason, Lily holds her head and tail up high.

Lily’s favorite thing in the world is to go for walks, to explore her environment and meet dogs and people. Lily doesn't have a mean bone in her but she will stand her ground and won’t be bullied by another dog no matter the size of him. Her own canine social skills are pitch-perfect. Cats, birds and squirrels, though, were put on this Earth especially for her to chase. She won’t harm them but she will harass them relentlessly. She would make a cat’s life miserable.

She is kind and patient with people and will go up to them to say hi. Having exquisite manners, she’ll sit down and stay still while they stroke her perfect fur and gush over her beauty.

Her coat is long and full with a thick undercoat. She will need regular brushing as well as periodic visits with a professional groomer. Eyes, ears and teeth need special attention. Enjoying being groomed is essential since it will always be a part of her life’s routine. Gentleness in this area is of the essence. Keep in mind that Lili sheds her fur. She is not one of those hypoallergenic dogs.

Dogs with short muzzles such as the pekingese, bulldog or boxer have a harder time cooling off their bodies than their long-nosed counterpart and therefore suffer greatly from exposure to heat. Lily should never be left in the hot sun without access to cool shade and water and should never be made to exert herself in hot weather. Given her size, prolonged exposure to very cold weather should also be avoided.

She is a bit fussy when it comes to food. Finding a balance between what’s good for her and what she likes to eat can be challenging. Being a petite dog, her guardian will make sure that she eats every day and has fresh water readily available at all time.

At home she is calm and won’t react to the doorbell or bark excessively otherwise. At night, she’ll find her spot and sleep until her human wakes up. She does not need to be crated during the day or at night but she does like to make herself comfortable on couches and sofas.

She does have energy to spend and daily walks make her very happy and keeps her healthy. She has a good recall and will come running when called.

Lily is anybody’s perfect dog. She deserves nothing less than the very best forever home.
