Lili's Story

6 year old Lili (Nov 20, 2019), lived in a home with 8 dogs. Her owner has dementia and over the past few years, Lili and the others suffered from horrible neglect. They mostly spent 24/7 crated with pee pads with an adult son coming in to feed/change pee pads.

She may have been breeding these dogs. The history is a bit spotted and unclear.

Lili was surrendered to the Quebec shelter by the son, when bylaw became involved. She arrived with horribly long nails, crusted eyes and ears, and horribly matted with dried feces and urine caked onto the fur. The shelter did an amazing job cleaning up the dogs and helping them begin their healing journey.

Due to the extreme cost of bringing them up to date medically, the shelter requested a transfer to rescue, so they joined Mattie's Place.

We're told Lili is 6 years old so we assigned her date of birth. She weighs in at 5 pounds. She has had all her medical brought up to date, including a dental with teeth extractions, a spay, deworming and full vaccines. She is healthy and ready for adoption.

Though Lili had a really challenging life, she hold no human grudges and is the sweetest little girl. Some hesitation with meeting new people, but it doesn't take her long to be accepting of new friends.

Lili is so tiny, that she'll do best in a home without small children, under 9 years old. She can be a solo dog or be in a home with a resident dog, but again, due to her tiny size, no dogs over 20 pounds for her safety. She will also do best with someone home more often than not. She really loves her people and I feel her heart would be happiest having some human companionship mostly instead of waiting on her people to come home after 8,9,10 hour workdays.

Like most small dogs, Lili is not the biggest fan of winter and along with her crated life, potty accidents inside can happen but she's really do her best to please her foster parents and potty outside.

Lili has a lot of puppy energy and expresses her happiness through play and zoomies. She is just a really happy dog and grateful to be in a foster home with love and kindness. Something she's lacked for years.

Lili is a fun, sweet girl, looking for an amazing adopter to call her own.

FROM THE FOSTER:

Meet Lili — the petite, beautiful ball of sweetness who completely stole my heart.

From the moment she arrived in my home, Lili blossomed from a shy little girl into the most playful, goofy, and lovable companion. She’s naturally reserved with new people, but once she feels safe, her gentle spirit shines through in the most heart-melting ways. With a little patience (and a treat or two), she warms up and becomes such a trusting, affectionate little soul.

She quickly settled into her own adorable routine: cozy naps where she curls up like a cinnamon bun, enthusiastic toy sessions that bring out her silly side, and joyful mid-day zoomies that send her happily zipping around the house with her whole body wiggling.

Lili also has a ton of puppy-like energy, which makes her such a fun little whirlwind to have around. She’s been caught red-handed chewing on a few objects around the house, but the moment you offer her a toy, she switches gears instantly and happily redirects all that energy into play.

Her potty training has come such a long way. She still has a few indoor accidents, but her progress has been incredible, and she truly tries her best every single day.

She enjoys her morning and evening meals like clockwork, always ready for the next adventure afterward. At night, she sleeps soundly in her kennel without a fuss, settling in and staying cozy until morning.

One of the sweetest surprises has been watching her with my dogs. She instantly connected with my male dog and now plays with him nonstop, chasing, wrestling, and holding her own with this perfect mix of tiny-but-mighty confidence and pure charm. It took her a little longer to warm up to my female dog, but with gentle introductions and time, they’ve built a lovely friendship too. Seeing all three of them play, coexist, and move through the house like a tiny, harmonious pack has been such a joy to witness.

Lili is endlessly curious. She sniffs every new smell with wonder, lights up whenever a toy or treat appears, and gives the gentlest tail wags while melting into your lap for pets. In the evenings, she gathers her toys around her bed like little treasures and settles in for movie night, soaking up the calm and comfort of being close.

My time fostering Lili has been full of laughter, tenderness, and so many heart-squeezing moments. She is truly one of the sweetest souls I’ve ever had the joy of caring for.

------------------------------------

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

----------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in it's current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.
