A sweet snuggle bug with lots of energy is a great way to describe Lexi.
Lexi is a year old golden/ collie mix.

Lexi was found abandoned and starving in a remote cemetery in the hills of Kentucky.  When she first came into foster care she was underweight and her coat was a mess. After gaining some weight Lexi was brought up to New England with the hopes of going into her forever home. Unfortunately the adoption didn’t work out for Lexi so she went to a foster home in Vermont. Once she was in her foster home it was discovered that Lexi was suffering from hip dysplasia.

Over the last couple months Lexi has been recovering from FHO surgery on both hips. She has been through so much in her short life so we want to make sure Lexi finds the most perfect home. Lexi loves playing with dogs, snuggling her humans and even snuggling the cats in her foster home.

Lexi needs to go to a home with confident dog savvy owners. She will be best in a home without any children. Ideally she will find a home with a male dog around her age that loves to play and has confidence.

Lexi gains confidence from the dogs around her-especially when meeting new people. She loves to be apart of everything you do but will need someone who has the patience and knowledge to help her continue to grow confidence in herself. Lexi has a lot of energy so her owners need to have time they can dedicate to helping her release her energy and exercising her brain.

Because Lexi has recently had surgery on both of her hips she will need her new family to help her continue to build the muscle and strength in back in her hips. After her recovery period Lexi will not have any issues with her hips and she will make a great hiking partner.

Requirements for Lexis
• Confident and experienced dog owner is a MUST!
• Lexi would do best in a quieter home, no apartments or city life and someone who wont leave her along more than a few hours at a time.
• Best with another confident young playful dog.
• A home that will be able to exercise Lexi ALOT multiple times a day
• A fenced yard
• A home with adults - no kids, as she needs slow introductions
• A home that would allow her on the furniture for snuggles
• A home that is prepared to invest their time in training an intelligent sometimes fearful young lady.
****applications with rescue experience will be prioritized.
