Levy Poodle Mix Houston, TX

I love this sweet, darling dog! Levy is a 2 year old female Poodle mix weighing 13 pounds. Her body is white with a little bit of black on her right ear and on the right side of her face. She was found as a stray and the person who found her indicated she appeared to be housebroken and did fine with dogs, cats, and kids. Levy must have been on her own for a while because her coat was overgrown and matted enough that her entire body had to be shaved with the exception of the top of her head and her ears. She has the sweetest, most tender/vulnerable looking eyes when she looks at you. I have to say that at first, with her body shaved naked, she is not the most attractive dog, but once her coat grows out, her true, darling self will shine through. I found Levy to be very huggable and loveable and she tugged at my heart strings. Let me tell you a bit about her.

She's trusting, friendly and happy. She came to me easily from her kennel and was cooperative while being carried. She walked OK on a leash but I could tell that since she was new to our facility, she wasn't sure where she should go. I'm sure she will be great on a leash once she has had a few days to acclimate to her surroundings. Levy is a calm, quiet, gentle love bug who is eager to please. She likes attention but loves affection. She adores having her head and ears massaged and being petted absolutely everywhere. I purposefully touched her everywhere on her body like a smaller child might do and she was completely comfortable with that. When I interacted with her, her activity level seemed to be on the low side with her preferring to be near me. If I ran and initiated play, she would engage, but seemed to prefer to be laid back and at least this day, she wasn't particularly interested in toys. I sat on the ground on a quilt and she came into my lap, faced me, and put her paws gently on my chest to ask for a hug. How adorable! She's not one of those 'in your face' kissy dogs. She likes to snuggle her head under your armpit while you pet her. And she will also gently put her nose under your hand to say she wants to be petted.

Levy is happy and eager to please. She will roll over on her back for belly rubs and thinks they are the greatest. She can jump up on a chair or sofa unaided in the event you prefer not to lift her and she loves nothing more than to sit next to you or in your lap. I haven't seen her interact with a child yet but I can picture her with one; perhaps a little girl who wants a companion; someone to confide in and snuggle in bed with at night. I'm repeating myself, but if you are looking for a quiet, gentle, snuggly dog who will look at you with the most tender, hopeful eyes, Levy may be the one for you. She will pull at your heart strings and no doubt be a faithful companion for a lifetime. She's a very deserving girl!

All the dogs are healthy, spayed/neutered, current on shots, parasite / heart worm disease tested (and treated if positive). All dogs are microchipped, groomed and trained to use a doggie door.
