Leroy joined New Leash when his owner passed away. Leroy is a 12-year-old Chihuahua mix and weighs about 9 pounds. Leroy came to us with a bad ear infections, dry skin and needed some dental work. He has had 15 teeth removed and treating his ear infection and his skin is much better.

Leroy lives in his foster home with two other smaller sized dogs. He gets along just fine with them and hasn’t shown any issues towards other dogs either when in public. No problem with cats, he’s not really sure what they are when introduced and doesn’t mind them.

Leroy uses potty pads consistently and will go outside. Best of both worlds. He is not crated during the day but if his foster is away for a bit, we put up fence/gates, so he has the family room to roam. He does great crated in the car and will follow you to the door because he wants to go with you somewhere.
Leroy is a chill dog. He wants to be where you are. His daily routine is breakfast, nap, potty, snack, a mini walk if its nice outside, dinner, rub down and bed. He really enjoys sniffing new areas and getting to know other small dogs.
He has been eating soft foods and snacks and really gets excited for dinner/breakfast and gives a little whimper to remind you its time to eat.
Leroy’s is low energy. His ideal home would be a quiet home where he can go for short walks, given lots of love and likes to go for car rides and meet people.

Do you have a soft blanket, warm lap and want a companion to hang out with?
Are Leroy’s match?

Reach out to the foster for more information.

This dog will be at our adoption event at the Woodbury PetSmart on Saturday from 11-2 looking for a home!

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home.

Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
