Other dogs - Should be an only dog. He will tolerate another dog in the house for short visits but needs to be supervised at all times when around the other dog and kept separate at feeding/treat time.
Cats - NO
Kids - Hasn't been around kids but has been good with all other adults he meets.
Crate trained - Need to coax in with treats and will protest briefly but will then settle down. Crate must be secure (extra clips), no bedding in the crate, as he will eat it if he gets anxious in the crate.
Leash trained - Working on occasional pulling. Can be reactive when he sees another, depending on their energy.
Housebroken - Yes. Knows how to use the doggie door. If he is in the crate, he will whine and fuss to let you know he needs to go out.
Eating habits - Very food motivated. He will work for food so he is very trainable with treats. Has a tendency to guard his food around other dogs so keep him separate when feeding/treating.
Commands known - Sit, Down, Watch Me , we are working on Stay.
Car rides - Should be crated for car rides as he tries to get to the front seat.
Bath time - Definitely not a fan.
Affectionate - Can be very affectionate if he is comfortable with you. Will give kisses. LOVES belly rubs, neck scratches.
Activity level - He's a pretty mellow/chill boy. A couple of 20 minute walks a day and he's good.
Play style - He loves the filled bones and Nyla bones. May chase a ball or toy once or twice but then he's done.
Bad habits - Reactive to other dogs, chews bedding, protective over food around other dogs, not comfortable around people that are nervous around him, can be protective of others in the house. Tries to eat cat poop if he finds some on a walk.
Redeeming qualities - Smart, willing to work for food, super sweet if he knows you are not nervous around him. He can also be super silly at times and that makes me laugh.
Best feature - There are a couple. His intelligence and his silliness.
What Foster Mom wants you to know - Leo can be a very sweet boy. He's older so he doesn't need a lot of exercise. He is very smart and LOVES food. He likes new people but does best with calm, confident people (nervous people make him a little nervous). He's a great watch dog as he only barks when there is something to bark at like someone coming up to the house.
