Leon's Story

Hi, I’m Leon.

I’m a 2-year-old retriever mix with a gentle heart and a story that’s a little blurry around the edges. I’m the kind of dog who needs someone with patience, kindness, and a soft voice — someone who understands that trust takes time, and that slow, steady love can change everything.

Once I feel secure, you’ll see the real me: a sweet, sensitive boy who wants so badly to belong. I’m not much of a player when it comes to doggy friends, but I coexist very nicely with calm, respectful dogs who won’t push me into games I’m not ready for.

If you have kids, older ones (12+) would be best for me — the quick movements and excitement of younger children can be a little overwhelming for a guy like me.

What I’m really hoping for is a special person who will show me that the world can be gentle... that I’m safe... and that I’m worthy of love.

If you think you might be that person, I’d love the chance to meet you.

— With hope, Leon

Hi, I’m Leon.

I’m a 2-year-old retriever mix with a gentle heart and a story that’s a little blurry around the edges. I’m not really sure how I ended up here — life didn’t start easy for me — but I do know this: I’m finally beginning to feel safe, and I’m dreaming of a home where I can blossom.

I can be shy and nervous when I first meet new people or encounter new things.
