Meet Leo, a resilient soul with a heart of gold and a story that'll tug at your heartstrings. Imagine finding yourself with a broken leg in a place where your future hangs by a thread. That was Leo's reality until fate intervened in the form of Mardi Paws and Take Paws. Thanks to their partnership, Leo underwent the necessary surgery and found refuge with a loving foster to start the hunt for his forever home.

Leo is irresistible. At roughly one year young and ~45 lbs, he couldn't be cuter or sweeter. He's the kind of guy who effortlessly wins over both furry friends and humans alike, his affable nature making him the perfect sidekick wherever he goes. He is kennel and house trained. Not destructive when left alone. He’s the perfect playful companion!!

Despite the souvenir of a plate and a few extra screws, you would never know he ever had surgery. He runs around like he was never hurt. Now neutered and fully vaccinated, Leo's ready to find a loving family to call his very own.

An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.

2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250


*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
