Meet Leo
Leo is one heck of a handsome fella, right??!! He’s a 9-month-old German Shepherd mix. He’s a good boy, and very sweet, but he lacks confidence when first meeting someone. He went through training and was fostered to a nice family with teenage boys and a nice dog. Early in his adjustment period the two dogs didn’t want to share and couldn’t get past that so we will insist that toys are not available when other dogs are present. Leo prefers larger confident dogs and thrives with them but a meet and greet will be required.
In Leo’s forever home, his people will need to continue a training routine. We also recommend well mannered children 15 and older. He will come with training instructions to keep him on track, and we will provide guidance from his devoted trainer so that Leo can be the best boy EVER!
His trainer explained, “It’s really important that they learn the commands and drills or the pup will regress. They naturally test boundaries with new handlers so his new family will have to work with him regularly. “
His trainer further stated, “Leo is still a bit unsure of new people. He warms up quickly, but it has to be on his terms. He loves to play with other dogs, but turns into a bully if they are submissive. He is very excited to learn and perform but still has that puppy impulse. He walks well on leash, sits, comes, down, look, place, and wait (ish) .”
Leo’s ideal person or family will be experienced dog owners and have a fenced yard. No cats. His family will need to follow the guidelines set in place by his trainer to ensure Leo stays on track. The meet and greet will be done with the trainer, which will help his forever family AND Leo succeed.
